Spellcheck and I
In her Christmas letter, a favorite niece included a delightful musical greeting. Above the words and music were cartoon drawings of a goldfish in a bowl, a sheep, a horse, two birds, a moose, all repeated twice and ending with a panda, a hippopotamus, a gnu, and a deer. I've yet to know who originated it.
Wee fish ewe a mare egrets moose,
Wee fish ewe a mare egrets moose,
Wee fish ewe a mare egrets moose,
Panda hippo gnu deer.
Today is firstborn son's birthday, so I fashioned him a greeting in like manner:
Hop pea berthed aye two ewe,
Hap pea berth they too yew,
Hop pee burr they deer sun,
Hap be berthed aye 2 U.
This was so much fun I had to try for more.
Wee wash yew am eerie grist mass,
Wee wash yew am eerie grist mass,
Wee wash yew am eerie grist mass,
Hand a hop pea knew ear.
The beauty of it is that my spelling and grammar check approved everything the first time through, except for egrets. Their suggestion: egret’s. However, that’s now been challenged with a return to egrets.
Ya gotta love spellcheck.

Anna!
I just finished the book! I need two more at the next ANWA meeting. I HAVE to give one to my mother (who was having children at the same time you were) and to one of my friends.
What a gift!

Thanks, Sheila for considering Lolly's Yarn a great gift. I'd love to meet your mother. Glad you read my book. Yes, I'll have copies at the next ANWA meeting. Or you could get them at the book party my kids are throwing for me on April 4. Invitation details forthcoming on my blog and by email, hopefully before March 21st.
