Poem-A-Day for the Month of April - Day 18: Holiday

Day 18: Holiday
Use any form you choose to write about any holiday.

With Mother's Day just around the corner, my choice of holiday was made a lot easier.

Besides, I will always have fond memories of Mother's Day, both back when I annually honored mine and when my kids honored theirs...

Mother's Day Scene
Mother's Day.
Excited children bearing trays,
Redolent with bacon and burned toast.
Laughter and giggles. "I love you Mom."
Warm chocolate with marshmallows,
Wet kisses and a velvet rose from the garden.
Mother's Day.

Can you determine which form I chose here? I can't. I suspect I was influenced by former instructions for 'using the senses' mixed up with oriental form, and simply the desire to paint a picture with words.

So much for my exactness in sticking with rules. After all, rules are guidelines, not shackles. My objective was to write and enjoy it, not to wow the world.
